Meetings in Tropoja

Representatives of the General Directorate of Industrial Property were in the city of Tropoja from 20-22 July 2020, where they held meetings with various companies on the importance of IP objects’ protection.

These meetings were organized as part of the awareness-raising campaign that GDIP is undertaking throughout the year to inform local business on the benefits gained by registering industrial property rights in the Republic of Albania.

An important part of the scheduled meetings in the city of Tropoja was the National Business Center (NBC) visit where the enhancement of inter-institutional cooperation was discussed in order to improve the IP situation of local businesses and offer the necessary legal assistance to balance the business climate.

 

Meetings in the city of Leskovik

Pursuant to the awareness-raising campaign to register Industrial Property objects, the Promotion and Training Office held meetings’ tour with local businesses.

On 2-3 September 2020, the Promotion and Training Office, pursuant to the awareness raising campaign on the registration of Industrial Property objects, continued the tour of informative meetings with local businesses of wineries and cheese dairies in the city of Leskovik.

Through these meetings, the General Directorate of Industrial Property aims to promote "Made in Albania" products and support and encourage local businesses to register IP objects.

 

Meetings in Mirdita

Trademark Protection of "Made in Albania" products is a necessity, not only to ensure compliance with the respective standards, but also for a dignified representation in the broader market.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Finance and Economy and General Directorate of Industrial Property are committed to inform and support Albanian enterprises with facilitation policies.

On 27-29 August 2020, GDIP has held several meetings in the area of Mirdita and Rubik where about 400 businesses operate, along with representatives of the tax administration and the NBC to inform businesses on the importance of industrial property rights.

"Arbër" Winery, an already registered brand or "Marubi" eco-hotel, tourist villas in Rubik, Restaurant "Uji i Ftohtë", traditional clothing products are models of success, which can be followed by other companies that produce and trade under the trademark "Made in Albania" to make it an added value.

 

Meetings in Berat

The General Directorate of Industrial Property has continued the tour of meetings on the promotion of industrial property rights in the city of Berat during the dates 16-18 July 2020. The General Director of GDIP, Mrs. Ledina Beqiraj together with experts in the field held a meeting in the premises of the Regional Customs Directorate of Berat with Mr. Ylli Hatellari. During the conversation with Mr. Hatellari it was pointed out the issue of blocking production of counterfeited goods in the Albanian market.

In the city of Berat, Mrs. Beqiraj met with the President of the Chamber of Commerce in Berat, Mr. Petraq Picinane. The purpose of the meeting was the indisputable importance of trademark registration and other objects of industrial property awareness-raising for the businesses operating in this city.

While in this city, other important meeting stops were held in businesses such as the Gjedra company dealing with the packaging of medicinal plants for the international market, and DEA Ltd company operating in the soft drinks business.

Businesses were provided with brochures and various drafted information related to the registration of industrial property objects.

 

Meetings in Himara

In the framework of awareness raising campaign that GDIP is undertaking to inform local business on the benefits of registering industrial property rights in the Republic of Albania July 27-29, 2020, the staff held meetings in the city of Himara.

Some of the businesses visited were Himara City Hotel, Taverna Stolis, Fotis Room, Virada Home Made Products and Skura Oil, where the importance of trademark registration was explained as the only mean for these businesses to continue operating under their own trade name protected by third parties.

 

Meetings in the city of Lezha

Representatives of the General Directorate of Industrial Property had meetings in the city of Lezha, from 09 to10 July 2020 to promote industrial property rights in the city’s local businesses.

The meetings took place in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry with Mr. Pashk Paloka, where it was discussed the possibility of cooperation with this chamber in the long-term, in support of businesses, and in one of the wineries of this city, the winery of Kallmet, known for the production of wine and brandy of this area. Our institution will guide this company in the procedures of trademark registration application as they expressed their interest in the registration of IP objects.

Another visit was paid to the Mali Shoes company, known for the production of shoes and its attempts to expand its activity in the international market. The business was well-informed about the importance of registering these rights in the domestic market.

 

Meetings in Saranda

The General Directorate of Industrial Property continues promotional and awareness raising campaigns to the local business. The coastal city of Saranda was the next stop where experts and representatives held meetings with various entities regarding the importance and benefits of protecting IP objects.

Representatives of the General Directorate of Industrial Property visited on 03-05 August 2020, Isak Winery, S-Vrion local dairy and the company for collection and processing of raw wood timber, where they met the administrator of this company, Mr. Petro Bozhori.

An important part of the meetings planned to take place in the city of Saranda was the one organized at the National Business Center where it was discussed on strengthening inter-institutional cooperation in the long run, in support of businesses, in order to promote industrial property rights.

Our institution is ready to offer the necessary assistance to all local businesses not only through information and awareness raising but also pursuant to the application procedures related to each IP object.

 

Meetings in Vlora

The General Directorate of Industrial Property (DPPI) resumed on 02.07.2020, the tour of informative meetings with businesses after the emergency situation created as a result of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, to be extended geographically to other cities of the country, pursuant to a certain calendar.

The Director-General of GDIP, Mrs. Beqiraj, and representatives of the institution held a meeting with the Director of the Regional Customs Directorate of Vlora, Mr. Kosta Vjero, and with the President of the Local Chamber of Commerce of Vlora, Mr. Arben Breshani

Meetings were held in the premises of some businesses in the city of Vlora, regarding the importance of registering industrial property objects.

During the meeting in the city of Vlora, Mrs. Beqiraj also stopped at one of the most serious companies in this city, SIROL, a trademark registered in the GDIP, for personal hygiene and various environmental products

The entities were informed about the economic and legal benefits of the registration of trademarks and service marks, industrial designs, geographical indications as well as inventions and utility models.

Meetings in Skrapar

The tour of the General Directorate of Industrial Property continues in the district of Skrapar.

On 29-31 July 2020, the General Director of GDIP, Mrs. Ledina Beqiraj accompanied by IP experts visited the Skrapari Winery, Hotel Qato, Alba-Lejla Winery, local dairies, and companies dealing with stones decoration and processing.

Ongoing business tours have an informative and promotional function regarding the economic and legal benefits of registering trademarks and service marks, industrial designs, geographical indications, and inventions and utility models. It should be highlighted the fact that we already have a different reality when we talk about the importance of industrial property rights, businesses that are informed and willing to protect their company assets such as intellectual property.
