Maria Solis Kapedani is a qualified professional specialized in Intellectual Property (IP) law, with extensive experience in both legal and academic fields. Her education and training include internationally recognized institutions, with certificates from Harvard University, Queen Mary University of London, St. Clare’s Oxford, and Berklee College of Music.
Born on January 18, 1992, in Albania, she is fluent in several foreign languages. Her extensive career is a testament to her skills and expertise in IP law, having worked in various sectors and countries.
Maria Solis Kapedani has a strong academic background, starting with her Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Tirana, followed by a Civil Master's degree with honors, and concluding with an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London. Mrs. Solis Kapedani is the author of several international publications in the field of Intellectual Property and the author of the book *Biotechnology and Morality: The Patentability of Embryonic Stem Cells*.
She has also undergone various training programs and holds certifications in different areas of law, including child protection from Harvard University and patent law from the EUIPO Academy.
Her professional experience includes valued positions in both the public and private sectors. Before assuming the role of Director General, Maria Solis Kapedani served as the Director of the Promotion, Training, and Analysis Directorate at the General Directorate of Industrial Property (DPPI) in Albania. Her work focused on fostering collaboration with national and international institutions such as WIPO, EUIPO, and EPO, and advancing awareness of Industrial Property in Albania through training programs, Cooperation Agreements, and creative projects on IP. She is also an active member of several boards and committees dedicated to intellectual property rights and policy development.
In addition to her work in IP, Maria has held leadership roles in legal education, including serving as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana. She has taught and developed curricula on industrial property and contributed to the training of future legal professionals.
Her international experience includes working as a Senior Expert on the project "EU Support for the Intellectual Property Rights System in Kosovo," where she contributed to the creation of new processes and the training of KIPA staff on the management of IP rights.
