INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS AND SERVICES (NICE CLASSIFICATION)
The International Classification of Goods and Services (Nice Classification) was created by the "Nice Agreement concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purpose of the Registration of Marks," adopted in Nice in 1957. This classification contains a list of 34 classes for goods and 11 classes for services. The Republic of Albania has been a member of this agreement since September 9, 2003, and in accordance with Law No. 9947, dated July 07, 2008, "On Industrial Property," as amended, the request for trademark registration must include a list of goods and/or services, grouped into classes, in accordance with this classification.
INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF THE FIGURATIVE ELEMENTS OF MARKS (VIENNA CLASSIFICATION)
The International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Classification) was created by the "Vienna Agreement establishing an International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks," adopted in Vienna in 1973. The Republic of Albania has been a member of this agreement since January 16, 2019.
INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION FOR INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS (LOCARNO CLASSIFICATION)
The International Classification for Industrial Designs (Locarno Classification) was created by the "Locarno Agreement establishing an International Classification for Industrial Designs," adopted in Locarno in 1968. This classification contains a list of 32 classes. The Republic of Albania has been a member of this agreement since September 9, 2003.
INTERNATIONAL PATENT CLASSIFICATION (IPC)
The International Patent Classification (IPC) was created in 1971 by the "Strasbourg Agreement." The IPC classifies technology into 8 groups, which contain approximately 70,000 subgroups. The Republic of Albania has been a member of this agreement since July 24, 2007.
